Norfolk site showcases 1000 Christian artists
With over 1,000 Christian musicians listed, Norfolk minister Revd John Shaw, has set up a website to help people to find great Christian music.
John came to Norfolk in 2000 as a curate to work for four years at
St Andrew's Church, Gorleston. He then became Rector of the
Rockland Benefice, which consists of six churches stretching from
Kirby Bedon to
Carleton St Peter.
John explains how the web site came into being: "I began playing music during my personal prayer times in church and it developed into a, 'Noisy Prayer Time', often leaving me in tears,” said John. “Trying to discover new Christian music is not easy. We lead busy lives and it takes time searching the internet. So I developed this one stop site for people of all ages.
“It has all kinds of music, acoustic, rap, choirs, rock, pop, house, children’s, dubstep and classical, to appeal to all Christians believers both new and old.”
The site called,
SoundsGreat has been running for over two years now, has had over 4,000 visits from all over the world and is a place where people can go and without any fuss or bother hear Christian groups and artists.
SoundsGreat gives information about the musicians, provides links to
Youtube clips where the artist can be seen playing, and allows you to search for genre, artist or tracks. The website is totally free and there is no subscription.
John (pictured right) established the website as part of the training on the
2011 Clergy Leadership Programme that he took part in.
He said: "No matter what happens I hope others enjoy the site as much as I do."
