Norfolk children’s charity reflect and give thanks

Raise Kids Work held its annual thanksgiving celebration last month, looking back at the last year and all that God has enabled them to do.

The evening, Saturday April 13, started off with refreshments, a song of praise, and hook a thankful duck.

Guests were invited to hook a duck which represented a project to be thankful for. Each duck was followed by a short explanation of the project including some testimonies from those involved. Projects included school assemblies, Reboot, a weekend residential for 8-11s, and MegaMix, a monthly kids club run in partnership with Hope Church Wymondham.

Elisabeth Louis, children’s worker at Hope Church said: “forming a partnership with Andy Jones and Raise to start and run MegaMix Kids Club, has been a very exciting journey. At the Raise Thanksgiving, some of the children shared what they love about MegaMix and it was thrilling to hear them say that they love to bring their friends who don't attend church so they can hear about Jesus.”

This year, Raise have been successful in a grant enabling them to develop Puzzle Pod #2. The first Bible-based portable escape room was launched last autumn and has been in several schools across the country and even as far as Cornwall for Creation Fest.

The team have also been able to share the Christmas and Easter story in engaging and interactive ways this last year with over 500 children.

Andy Jones, Director of Operations was loaded by Andy Severn (part time Kids Ministry Assistant) with boxes each representing a different project or task that he is responsible for including administration. Andy Severn explained that if anyone can volunteer 4-5 hours a week to help with administration, they’d love to hear from you.

Raise continues to go beyond the borders of Norfolk and is off to Wales this month to lead the kids work at a Church weekend away and is in talks with taking the Puzzle Pod to Manchester to help a church with its school’s work. Raise is also taking the Puzzle Pod to Abound Family Camp a camp ran by Virtual Sunday School at Lenchwood Christian Centre in Worcestershire.

Everybody was also encouraged to hear that Raise will be leading a 3-day holiday club for Carleton Rode Baptist Church at the beginning of the summer holidays.

The trustees thanked everyone for their prayers, encouragement, and giving: “without our supporters we couldn’t keep doing what we do”. They asked people to consider joining them on the board as they continue to grow and seek God.

They were also able to share about the fantastic total raised at the Charity Auction in November where they raised £5000 towards their work.

The next fundraising event is the ever popular WYMonopoly Live Challenge on Saturday June 8. Teams spend the day dashing about Wymondham, taking selfies with their team playing piece and trying to complete challenges to earn the most points and be crowned champions.
